key issues

We are undergoing the biggest change in the city of St. Louis’ government in more than 100 years. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make the city work for everyone. As your new alderperson, I will focus my energy on our community’s priorities.

  • Every person in our city should feel safe. I believe in building communities where we look out for our neighbors and where residents work together with organizations, social services, the police department, and community members to reduce violent crime and increase pedestrian safety.

    My priorities:

    • Funding pedestrian safety and community connection in ward infrastructure improvements.

    • Advocating for community-first public safety solutions, including mental health services and additional crime prevention initiatives for youth.

    • Holding police accountable, supporting officer retention and officer training efforts.

  • Providing basic city services for residents is one of our government's greatest responsibilities. I believe that delivery of services such as trash pickup, pothole repair and tree trimming is an investment in the community’s trust. The ongoing maintenance and preservation of roads, sidewalks, and other essential infrastructure are crucial to residents’ well being and our economic growth.

    My priorities:

    • Funding critical basic city services and infrastructure needs in our city’s budget.

    • Advocating for salary increases for city employees to make the city a more competitive employer in the marketplace.

    • Prioritizing pedestrian safety in the design of projects funded by BB120/Safe Streets Act.

    • Increasing use of data and evidence-based decision making for infrastructure-related projects.

    • Using ward capital funds to maintain and upgrade our streets and sidewalks.

  • Strong constituent relations lead to a more responsive and accountable government. I believe that prioritizing constituent relations strengthens the democratic process and puts the voice of the people at the heart of policymaking.

    My priorities:

    • Empowering our 6th Ward staff to respond to constituent requests in a timely manner.

    • Hosting town halls at least four times a year to inform constituents.

    • Working with organizations in the neighborhood to share and disseminate information about city services, legislation and other city-related processes.

  • From small business owners to everyday workers who choose to shop local, I believe we all have a role to play in strengthening the economy. I will advocate for inclusive growth while supporting and developing our small businesses.

    My priorities:

    • Developing and passing updated minority workforce participation legislation in the city.

    • Reducing the number of commercial and residential vacancies in the 6th Ward.

    • Cutting red tape in the city’s processes to make it easier for small businesses to thrive and stay in the city.

    • Enforcing our prevailing wage law and making sure workers get the pay they deserve.

  • Housing is a right. I believe everyone in our city should have a safe, stable and sustainable place to call home. Let’s make sure our city is a place where we all can thrive.

    My priorities:

    • Advocating to increase housing options in the ward to grow affordable options available to community members.

    • Developing neighborhood-level scorecards for new development.

    • Supporting and passing a Renter’s Bill of Rights at the Board of Aldermen.
